Treaty Of Waitangi

The British Queen Victoria sent a man named William Hobson on her behalf, to try make peace and try solve problems with the Maoris in Nz.  So he signed the treaty/contract, a legal agreement on the 6th of February 1840, at Waitangi in Bay of islands.

The 3 p’s represents Protection Partnership and Participation, which was used by the Maori and British. The british and the Maori wanted to protect the land and also the British and the Maori’s all wanted to participate in the land. Unfortunately the British didn’t want to share the land.

They thought that if they would sign the treaty/Legal Contract, they would rule over nz. The Maoris thought that the British will control the settlers. Somehow they started trading and unfortunately found peace.

What does the Treaty of Waitangi mean to us in Pt England. Well It means to us that we should care for others and respect the prefects and everyone else. It also means to us that we could participate in every subject and sport. Play fair which everyone will have a smile on there face,
